Design and planning

Stockbridge can manage all the pre-construction work, including the production of architectural designs and structural engineering plans, and planning applications, to deliver schemes that fit both our clients’ aims and the local context.

Some extensions, such as to listed buildings or within conservation areas and many other prime central London locations, will always require planning permission.

We have an extensive network of experienced, professional architects and planning consultants. Their relationships with local planners help us navigate the prevailing planning and permitted development regulations, many of which are subject to frequent change.

Listed buildings

Altering a listed building without planning approval is a criminal offence. The local authority planning department will always attribute more value to the existing property in its current form than any extensions you might wish to make.

As a consequence, any proposed changes must reflect the materials, design and appearance of the existing building if it is to have any chance of receiving planning consent.
