Bespoke luxury in Belsize Park
The skylights, together with colour temperature-controlled LED lighting, are the centrepiece of this apartment refurbishment
The Covid lockdown have injected a great deal of unpredictability into the schedules of many a property developer – and this was certainly the case concerning the refurbishment of a large three-bedroom, ground-floor apartment in a grand Belsize Park townhouse last year.
Stockbridge Design & Build was brought in at very short notice to fully refurbish the apartment, construct a rear extension and install automated systems throughout the property in the process.
However, the apartment was being used by the Norwegian embassy in London. Their priorities meant that all of Stockbridge’s work had to be managed and competed in a very short timescale.
“We were called in to manage this project during the first lockdown,” says Stockbridge construction director Adeel Bhatti. “For our client, getting it done to the highest spec within the shortest timeframe was an absolute necessity, a real emergency.
“The work had to be turned around very quickly so that our client’s client could be moved back in immediately.”
In additon to the refurbishment and extension, Stockbridge also installed automated lighting and heating systems, so they were fully controllable via web apps.
Adeel added: “We implemented all of these systems for the client, while retaining the specifications, the class and classic look and feel that you’d expect of a beautiful period property in Belsize Park.”
In addition to the rear extension, the apartment is characterised by bespoke door designs
